LOAN WATCH – DEVELOPMENT DUO RETURN

21 January 2013

Weather ruins weekend for majority of Town loanees

The inclement weather provided a massive stumbling block for the large majority of Town’s out on loan players over the weekend, with none of the five loanees getting any time on the pitch as a result.

Only Kallum Higginbotham’s game survived the cold snap, but the attacker was an unused substitute as Motherwell recorded a 3-2 home win over St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premier League.

Kallum will be hoping to make his debut for the Steelmen in their next competitive encounter on January 29, when Dundee United visit their Fir Park Stadium.

Striker Jimmy Spencer is still awaiting his Crawley Town debut after their game at home to Carlisle United in npower League 1 fell victim to the weather this weekend. He’ll be hoping for better luck when Preston North End visit on 29 January.

Elsewhere Liam Ridehalgh couldn’t add to his Rotherham United appearances over the weekend as their game at Oxford United was postponed. Weather permitting, the Millers are back in action on Saturday as they host Bristol Rovers.

The remaining two loan spells of Town’s Development Squad players also came to an end over the weekend. Striker Connor Loftus’ loan at Mossley ended with a postponement, meaning the young forward (pictured above) scored one goal in three starts for them, whereas Max Leonard finished with two goals in four starts for struggling Garforth Town.
