Defender set to see out the season with Rotherham

Huddersfield Town defender Liam Ridehalgh has today extended his stay with npower League 2 promotion contenders Rotherham until the end of the season.

The left-back’s initial loan deal is due to end this weekend, but he will now stay with the New York Stadium outfit until the end of the season.

Ridehalgh spent the first half of the season with Chesterfield where he made 16 appearances before joining the Spireites' npower League 2 rivals Rotherham.

The 21 year-old has made six appearances for the Millers since his arrival, in which they have won five games. They are currently placed third in npower League 2 following their New Year’s Day victory over Rochdale.

Simon Grayson has been pleased with the progress that the young left back has made.

“Liam has progressed beyond playing football for our Development Squad and his development is best served by going out and playing games at a high, competitive level under pressure to win.

“He did well at Chesterfield, but he’s stepped up to another level with Rotherham near the top of their division. We’ve had Liam watched and he has done well; he’s still young and learning. We’ve seen many players go out on loan and become better for it; Chris Atkinson is proof of that this season.

“This move suits all parties and we’ll assess his progress in the summer.”

Returning to the Club this week are three of Town's Development squad players. Matt Crooks and James Burke return from Radcliffe Borough whereas Jordan Sinnott returns from Altrincham. Midfielder Crooks scored three goals in five starts while defender Burke notched one from his five starts. Sinnott made six starts for the Blue Square Bet North outfit.

Departing Town today is winger Adam Hammill who returns to his parent club Wolves after scoring the Terriers' equaliser against Birmingham on Saturday.
