‘School Focus’ match attracts more young fans

Huddersfield Town’s ‘School Focus’ match initiative continued to be a growing success at the Cardiff game this Saturday with over 1,448 school children and parents taking advantage of discounted tickets.

As well as 90 minutes of hard fought action from 3pm on Saturday, there was plenty of other things going on before the game and at half-time for Town fans to experience: below is a run through of everything that happened.

Dean Hoyle Q&A

The Canalside question and answer session prior to a Saturday home game has become a regular tradition for many Town fans - and they were given a treat on Saturday when Dean Hoyle appeared as the guest.

Town’s Chairman answered questions for over an hour from fans regarding a variety of subjects from who the next manager will be to, how matters are progressing at Canalside.

Town Family

To help improve the match day experience for the Club’s fans, the ‘Town Family’ group has been set up.

Dressed in bright green uniforms with ‘Here to Help’ on the back, the ‘Town Family’ were positioned around the ground to help out and take suggestions on how the Club can improve the match day experience for Town supporters.

The ‘Town Family’ also had stadium maps and general information and were of service to those seeking information on turnstiles, directions, disabled access and anything else!

Andy Booth

Ambassador Andy Booth spent much of the afternoon in the Fantastic Media Stand signing autographs and alongside the aforementioned ‘Town Family’ helped hand out free foam hands to supporters.

Also, in the Family Stand were two face-painters and a balloon modeller from Artifaces. The FM stand proved the place to be on Saturday as some lucky fans were in for a further treat when they were selected to be the guards of honour as the teams walked out.

Mascot Match

A special mascot match took place at half-time which featured our own Terry the Terrier and several other mascots from Town’s Club Partners! Joining Terry is the West Yorkshire Fire Service’s Blaze Bear; Kirklees Catering’s ‘Munch’ the Dragon; Hollybank Trust’s Holly Bear; Heartley from Heart Research UK; Dude and Dudette from Kirklees Active Leisure; Pinky Lynx from the Pink Link and the YAA’s mascot Helicopter.

The animals won the match against Dude and Dudette, Heartley from Heart Research UK and the YAA’s Helicopter.

Ian Marsden – Lewis James Suite guest

Ian Marsden, the Managing Director of the Telegraph Media Group, was invited to be the guest at Town’s VIP lounge the Lewis James Suite.

Ian is a lifelong Town fan and once had trials with the Club as a youngster. Ian spoke about his memories of supporting Town and his career which started at Brook Motors as an Electrical Engineer. Ian also signed up for the Pedal for Pounds 4 bike ride, which is still open for entries. Fans have until Wednesday 13 February to sign up; do so by emailing robyn.deegan@htafc.com!
