Club Partner Chadwick Lawrence educates youngsters off the field
Town’s Academy scholars learn day in, day out on the training pitch under the tutelage of Academy Manager Mark Lillis – but they are also getting the best education away from the field of play thanks in part to one of our Club Partners.
Chadwick Lawrence Solicitors came down to Canalside Sports Complex – the home of Town’s First Team, Development and Academy players – last week to give a presentation to the Club’s Under-18 players as part of the NVQ they study during their two year scholarships.
Partner Neil Wilson gave a presentation relating to the employment rights and responsibilities, giving the Under-18 players an idea of their personal responsibilities away from the Club and what pitfalls to look out for, especially given their higher profile status as full-time footballers.
Neil cited several high profile examples from the world of sport where people have not followed these guidelines too!
Town’s scholars complete an educational framework as set out by League Football Education, as Mark Lillis explained to htafc.com:
"The aim of the educational programme is to help our scholars become more well-rounded individuals by the end of their two years scholarship – regardless of whether they are awarded a professional contract or not.
"I'm a big advocate of off the field work involving our young players, because I want our lads to learn the skills they need to succeed in life off the field too."
