ORCHARD GROUP BACKS PEDAL FOR POUNDS

4 February 2013

Club Partner supports fundraising bike ride

Huddersfield Town Club Partner The Orchard Group has backed the upcoming ‘Pink Link Pedal for Pounds 4’ fundraising bike ride as its secondary sponsor.

Orchard’s distinctive logo will appear on the outfits of the vital support team – the workers who make Pedal for Pounds possible behind the scenes throughout the four days – and on the shirts that the riders will be awarded with upon completion of the Tour of Yorkshire.

Two people from The Orchard Group – Managing Director Gareth Henderson and Director Neil Ewing – will even take part in the 240 mile round trip, which takes in Hull, Scarborough and Harrogate.

Gareth (centre) and Neil (right) joined the Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s Head of Fundraising Paul Gowland outside their Elland office to confirm the sponsorship.

This sponsorship is the latest fantastic gesture from The Orchard Group, which recently pledged to make a generous regular donation to the Town Foundation (click HERE for full information).

Town’s Supporter Partnerships Manager Robyn Deegan thanked The Orchard Group for its support today:

“The ‘Pedal for Pounds’ bike rides are big operations and become quite complicated logistically, so support from the business community – both financial and through other methods – is very important to its success.

“The Orchard Group’s backing for the support teams is absolutely vital, as without them we could not undertake the ride.

“I would like to thank The Orchard Group on behalf of the Club for its continued terrific backing. It’s brilliant news that Gareth and Neil will be taking part in the ride, as they will experience first-hand what a fantastic experience the bike ride is – both for the riders and thanks to the money it generates for two incredibly worthwhile causes.”

Orchard Group MD Gareth Henderson said: “We’re delighted to be sponsoring Pedal for Pounds and Neil and I are looking forward to joining the many other cyclists who have already pledged their support to what promises to be a fantastic community fundraising event.”

Last year 280 cyclists joined Town Chairman Dean Hoyle to complete the ride from Yeovil to Huddersfield, raising around £250,000 to be split between the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Huddersfield Town Academy, and the hope is that figure can be topped this season.

250 fans have already pledged to complete the ride this season and supporters can still sign up to the ride before the extended deadline of 13 February – click HERE for more information.
