HOYLE THANKS LILLIS AND EYRE

14 February 2013

Chairman: ‘They’ve made the Club proud’

Huddersfield Town Chairman Dean Hoyle has today paid tribute to Caretaker Managers Mark Lillis and Steve Eyre for the job they have done during their interim spell in charge of the First Team.

Town’s Academy Manager and Senior Professional Development Coach have steered the senior side to two wins and two draws in five games since taking over the reins and Hoyle today recorded his appreciation for the job they have done.

“The excellent job that Mark, Steve and Frankie Bunn have done with the First Team has allowed the Board of Directors to follow its detailed process in appointing a new manager,” Hoyle told htafc.com.

“Together they have given our supporters a real sense of pride and togetherness by leading the team through a series of passionate and tactically astute performances against a string of difficult opponents in the npower Championship and FA Cup.

“If Tuesday night’s game proves to be their last in charge of the First Team, it was an outstanding way to sign off as the win at Leicester City is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the season so far. A depleted and young side showed incredible discipline and stuck to a sophisticated plan to record a great result against one of the genuine powerhouses of our division.

“Their spell in the spotlight has highlighted how lucky we are to have such skilled and passionate backroom staff at the Club. Mark and Steve can go back to their day jobs now and continue their excellent work with our next generation of players. They do so with the thanks and gratitude of everyone connected with the Club.”
