Charity teams up with Manufactured Yorkshire ‘13
The Town Foundation is one of the key organisers of ‘Manufactured Yorkshire ‘13’ and aims to give an apprentice the chance at a career in manufacturing.
Manufactured Yorkshire ‘13 (MY ‘13) is an exhibition that will take place at Town’s Stadium on Tuesday 14 May which aims to bring together manufacturers and their supply chains for a day of learning, collaboration and networking to strength trade links across Yorkshire.
The day will include seminars and business clinics as well as a business hall consisting of over 50 manufacturers and suppliers of all sizes and types, with free places for delegates to come and visit on the day.
Proceeds made from stand sales will go to the Town Foundation, which will use the money to place one lucky apprentice in work at a manufacturing company.
One of the organisers of MY ’13, Danny Matharu, Managing Director of Hillrich Ltd., commented:
“We are proud to be working with the Town Foundation on MY ‘13. This partnership will ensure a lasting legacy from the inaugural Conference in the form of a potential Apprenticeship opportunity.
“Working alongside Mark Young, who demonstrates a sector specific knowledge and passion for Manufacturing, has been invaluable in conceiving MY ‘13. Being a manufacturer himself, he knows the value of MY ‘13 to Yorkshire’s Manufacturer and is spreading the MY ‘13 word across his network and beyond”
Mark Young of John Walton (Machine Tools) Ltd, a long established supplier of Specialised Work holding Equipment into the manufacturing sector, added:
“I am very passionate about engineering and manufacturing and keen to do anything I can to prolong the upturn we are seeing in the industry in the current climate.
“For many years I have been frustrated by the lack of events that celebrate manufacturing, allowing companies to network, share knowledge and resources and "show off" their capabilities in general - for a reasonable cost.
My desire to see such an event organised has been driven forward by working closely with Huddersfield Town’s Directors and events team, and from this the event MY ‘13 has been given the green light.”
The Town Foundation’s Corporate Fundraising Officer Mandy Taylor added:
“In partnership with the team behind MY ‘13, we aim to have the financial means to fund a first year manufacturing apprentice entering the industry.
“All participating organisations will have the opportunity to apply for this unique initiative. Apprentices tend to be eager, motivated, flexible and loyal to the company that invests in them.
“They have made an active choice to learn on the job and a commitment to a specific career with over 80% of those employers who employ them agreeing that they make their workplace a more productive place.
“This is yet another new and innovative project that we, as a local charity are incredibly proud to benefit from. Our mission is to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people within our community and we are incredibly grateful for the awareness opportunity that this event will give.”
