Boothy helps school partner North Huddersfield Trust

Club Ambassador Andy Booth has been helping children from a local school with a project on Huddersfield Town.

Year seven pupils from Town’s school partner North Huddersfield Trust visited the John Smith’s Stadium during November to meet Town’s legendary striker and learn more about the Club.

In total, Boothy took pupils on five separate tours of the Stadium to help them with their project, which has focussed on the Club’s impressive history, the move from the old Leeds Road ground to the John Smith’s Stadium in 1994 and how the Club makes money today.

The children also visited the old Leeds Road site to understand more about the Stadium move.

Boothy told htafc.com:

“The pupils from North Huddersfield Trust were already very knowledgeable about the Club when they arrived for their tours, but armed with their worksheets they asked me some very good questions about the history of the Club, such as important former players.

“I hope the tour helped bring their school project to life; they certainly seemed to enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the changing room, particularly the boot room!”

Town’s School Partnership is a free scheme for education establishments in West Yorkshire. The scheme currently features 67 schools who are regularly receiving cash back from ticket sales, coaching sessions and player visits.

Since the School Partnership began in the 2011/2012 season over £17,500 has been returned to schools as part of the Schools Partnership cash-back scheme. Over 5,758 children and their families attended a home game during season 2012/13 as part of the partnership.

Club Ambassador Andy Booth and Town players make regular visits through the year to School Partners and over 600 hours of coaching were given to Schools Partners by Football in the Community qualified coaches last season.

The Scheme offer rewards to schools including lap of honour at half time, being official flag wavers as the teams come out, receiving signed merchandise and match tickets (for pupil rewards or fundraising).
