‘KEEPER ED GOES OUT ON LOAN

20 December 2013

Wilczynski joins FC United of Manchester

Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Ed Wilczynski has today joined FC United of Manchester on loan until 16 January 2014.

A first year professional, 19 year-old Ed hails from Mount and graduated from the Academy at the conclusion of last season.

This season he has made four appearances for Town’s Under-21s and a further four for the Under-18s as an overage player, but with neither side now having a competitive game until mid-January he will join FC United on loan.

Managed by Karl Marginson, FC United of Manchester currently sit in the Play-Off places of the Evo-Stik League Northern Premier Division having accumulated 39 points from their first 22 games.

They lost their regular goalkeeper James Spencer to injury during last weekend’s 2-0 win at AFC Fylde.

Subject to official clearance ahead of Saturday, Ed is expected to go into their squad as they host Barwell FC at Bury’s Gigg Lane.

Huddersfield Town’s Senior Professional Development Coach Steve Eyre commented:

“With no Under-21 games until 13 January, this is the ideal scenario for Ed to continue to develop. We know this move will suit both parties.

“He will learn different things there as he’ll be playing competitive football against seasoned players in a team that is looking to push on and gain promotion. Ed will also learn how what it's like to play in front of the good crowd and atmosphere that FC United get. We think he’s ready for that challenge and we will monitor his progress very carefully.”
