Manager praises hat trick hero
Mark Robins reserved special praise for James Vaughan following his hat trick in Town’s 5-1 victory over Bournemouth.
“He is so important to us,” said Mark. “His finishing today was out of this world; he even scored his penalty, which I was surprised about!
“I though Adam Hammill is playing near to his best and that Adam Clayton’s goal was superb.”
On the game, Mark said: “We were good from the first minute to the last.
“Bournemouth are a good side and we have managed to score five goals against them; the only blemish was the goal that we conceded. There were some very good performances today.
“The belief is growing game by game now and there were some outstanding goals scored today. It leads into a tough week before we have a break. The supporters and players have enjoyed themselves and it bodes well for the future.”
Robins was disappointed to concede, but on another day it could have been more.
“The overall standard of play from both teams was excellent,” he said. “They caused us plenty of problems and found space and passes well. They were a threat down the wing and another day would have hurt us more.”
Robins’ attention now turns to Tuesday night when Town take on Charlton in the Capital One Cup and he kept his cards close to his chest when asked if he would make any changes.
“I don’t know yet, but we have the likes of Jonathan Stead who needs to play some football. I will have a look on Monday, but the other temptation is to field the same team because they are excellent. Whatever team I pick, we want to progress in the Cup.”
