HOGG: FOCUS ON THE POSITIVES

3 August 2013

New boy Jonathan takes plus points from Forest

Town may have fallen to a 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest on the opening day of the 2013/14 season, but summer recruit Jonathan Hogg was keen to focus on the positives from the game.

Hogg was at the heart of a disciplined first-half performance and was keen to extol the virtues of that organised display against one of the bookies’ favourites for promotion.

“I think the lads did really well in the first-half; we passed the ball quite well and we really frustrated them in the way they wanted to play. We broke well a couple of times too. I think the lads really will have impressed in their first-half performance,” Jonathan told htafc.com.

“We wanted to keep our shape. Forest is a difficult place to come to, especially on the first day of the season, but the fans were really up for it and the players were at it. We made it hard for them, but just one daft mistake and one goal cost us the game.

“There were a few errors in their goal; four or five bad bits of play. That happens in a game, but unfortunately Forest capitalised on it.

“In the second-half, it was tough; we were always on the back foot. Despite this, the boys can be fairly happy with the performance.

“I think we need to take the positives out of today’s game and move on. We have to look forward to the next game on Tuesday night.”

Hogg reserved his final words for the 2,000 Town fans in attendance at the City Ground this afternoon, who backed the team to the hilt all afternoon.

“I didn’t know how well Huddersfield Town fans travel – they were fantastic in their numbers and they got behind us very loudly. That will really help the team this season.”
