BRIGHT START FOR TOWN!

New Covonia third kit to be worn at Nottingham Forest

Huddersfield Town is guaranteed to make a bright start to the Championship season at Nottingham Forest on Saturday when the players run out in the new PUMA third kit for 2013/14!

Modelled by new signing Cristian Lopez, the striking all-yellow strip will be worn by Town’s first team players during the first game of the season at the City Ground this weekend.

The kit features the logo of Covonia; the cough medicine brand of Huddersfield-based Club Partner Thornton + Ross, whose brand Radian B also appears on Town’s black and red second kit.

While predominantly yellow shirt, shorts and socks, the kit also features a special black and yellow version of the famous Huddersfield Town crest as well as black piping and the iconic black PUMA logo. Town’s squad numbers and names on the back of the shirt will also be in black.

Huddersfield Town’s Commercial Director Sean Jarvis explained:

“Our commercial agreement with Thornton + Ross means we will wear a change strip featuring their brands in all our away games during 2013/14.

“With our kit manufacturer changing to PUMA this season, that brought about the need for a third kit and obviously there is a clash between our black and red second kit and the home strip of Nottingham Forest.

“It is great for the Club to have a powerful national brand like Covonia on the front of the shirt, particularly given Thornton + Ross’ proud history in Huddersfield and long-term support of the Club; this season is the fifth where one of their brands appears on our away shirt. On behalf of Huddersfield Town, I would like to thank them once again for their support.”

A limited edition of 1,000 replica third kit shirts will go on sale in Town’s retail outlets on Friday 1 November, with profit going to the Town Foundation – the Club’s registered charity that aims to make a difference to the lives of young people across the region through projects such as its ‘Early Kick-Off’ breakfast clubs.

Jarvis continued:

“The idea to donate profit of the sale of the third kit in November was put forward by Thornton + Ross and we immediately agreed.

“We’re likely to wear the third kit around the date of sale, with the live televised game at Sheffield Wednesday on 23 November being earmarked in particular, to try and highlight this good cause and the excellent work the Town Foundation carries out across our community.”

Commenting on the partnership Ed Round, Marketing Manager for Covonia, said:

“Covonia was first created over 50 years ago in the hills above Huddersfield and despite the brand’s growth to become a range of best-selling cough medicine formulas in the UK, has always been manufactured in the town. In order to mark Thornton + Ross’ fifth season sponsoring Huddersfield Town, selling the kit as a limited edition in support of the Foundation seemed like a great way of working with the Club to help a charity working at the heart of the Huddersfield community.”
