ROBINS: WE HAVE AN ADVANTAGE

Mark previews Blackburn trip

Mark Robins wants his side to build upon the performance at Wolves ahead of Tuesday night’s trip to Blackburn.

Town made it a hat trick of 3-1 away victories on Saturday for the season, which saw them move up to 19th in the npower Championship.

Following their 2-0 victory over Derby on Saturday, Blackburn are just one point and place behind the Terriers ahead of the meeting at Ewood Park.

“It is our next biggest game of the season,” said Mark on the clash. “Just like Wolves was on Saturday and Peterborough the Saturday before that. We need to keep picking points up; the Wolves victory reinforces how important the point was against Peterborough. We need to continue in the same vein and keep producing good performances.

“We took a few knocks, but hopefully everyone will be fine when we come to assess. We can look forward to Blackburn.”

Former Town striker Jordan Rhodes took his seasonally tally of goals to 29 on the weekend and he is a player that Mark has had experience of trying to stop in the past.

“When I was at Rotherham I came up against him and Huddersfield in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and when he was younger he played for Brentford against one of my teams. He is superb goalscorer, but we have got one of our own, though, and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.”

With four games to go, Town sit two points above the relegation zone and have teams to play who are in and around them before the season is out.

“Everybody has to keep grounded,” said Mark. “We have got four games left against teams close to us and we have got an advantage. There will be twists and turns and we will try and keep our noses ahead.

“I don’t know how many wins or points we will need. Some teams have got four games to play, others five left, and you just don’t know. We have got 51 points which in other seasons would have seen us well clear of safety. That isn’t the case this season and it will certainly keep things interesting.

“We know what we have to do and we need to maintain the level of performance from Wolves.”
