ROBINS: TO A MAN WE WERE SUPERB

13 April 2013

Mark praises troops after superb away win

Mark Robins was delighted with his players following the 3-1 victory at Wolves, but warned that focus must turn quickly onto Blackburn this Tuesday.

A second-half brace from substitute Jermaine Beckford earned Town a valuable three points after Sean Scannell had earlier levelled for the Terriers.

“The euphoria of winning is fantastic, but we need to refocus very quickly ahead of Blackburn,” Mark told htafc.com.

“The performance today was excellent, akin to the one at Bolton. We added the goals and took our chances; to a man we were fantastic, apart from the first 15 minutes.

“I wanted the players to be brave and pass the ball – and they did that. The support was superb; they can see what we are trying to do. They got behind us and were certainly our 12th man.”

Beckford illustrated his predatory instinct to prod Town into the lead before producing a superb chipped effort to seal the points.

“If we could coax that type of performance out of him regularly, he wouldn’t be playing for us – he would be in the Premier League,” said Mark. “I want him to do what he did today more often; it was a terrific performance.”

Sean Scannell was integral to the victory and Mark heaped praise on the young winger.

“I told Scanz to be our match winner today and he certainly followed my orders! He got us back into it with a great goal and caused them no end of problems. We were on top for a lot of the game and it allowed Sean and others to get on the ball.”

Midfielder Keith Southern returned to the fray to see Town over the line, after recovering from a long term Achilles injury.

“Keith is so experienced and you want him in your team. When Oscar (Gobern) started to tire there was no one better to bring on. He did a good job for us in the middle of the pitch; I was delighted.”
