GIG4POUNDS AT CANALSIDE THIS SATURDAY

26 April 2013

Fundraising gig on Saturday 27 April

Pink Link ‘Pedal for Pounds 4’ cyclists Rob Cunningham and Matt Fisher have organised a gig night at Canalside to raise funds for the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign.

The event will be held on Saturday 27 April – the final Saturday before Pedal for Pounds departs for its Tour of Yorkshire.

The confirmed bands include The Record Covers, The Fabulous Rocking Sturgeons, Bound by a Secret, Evil Genius, Speakeasy and an DJ.

There will also be a raffle held on the evening in aid of the Keep it Up campaign, with some great prizes provided by local businesses.

Tickets are priced at just £10 with proceeds going towards Keep It Up and are available to purchase behind the bar at Canalside, at Henry's Coffee and Wine Bar, Scotty's Barbers and TAG Hair Design. You can also pay on the evening!

Event organiser Rob Cunningham told htafc.com:

“I’m really looking forward to a great night for an even greater cause. We first dreamt up the idea of a fundraising gig whilst cycling somewhere between Bath and Solihull on P4P3 whilst feeling very cold and sorry for ourselves!

“A very good friend of ours is an experienced sound engineer and we know a band or two between us, so it was a logical idea. We love live music and thought the public of Huddersfield plus our family, friends and fellow P4P'ers would respond well to such an event and that is proving to be the case.

“We deliberately timed it just prior to P4P4 as a possible pre-ride get together too.”

Fellow organiser Matt added:

“We’re really excited by the gig and looking forward to seeing all the plans come together for a great night’s entertainment. It’s for a fantastic cause that you can make a significant contribution to just by buying a ticket and having a Saturday night out!

“All the bands are giving up there time for free and with the venue being provided free too, the costs of staging the event are absolutely minimised; this means that we can maximise the proceeds from the event and help nudge closer to the Keep It Up £1m target.”
