Steve delighted with final game showing

Steve Eyre told that his side ticked all the boxes as they finished the regular season with victory at Leeds United.

Joel Lynch’s late strike secured the Terriers a place in the end of season Play-Offs.

“It was a superb way to finish the season, I am delighted,” said Steve.

“It was a difficult game with the wind, the slope and a strong opposition and it felt like we changing things tactically every five minutes to try and get a grip of the game. We were forever changing it and the lads proved how versatile they were, it was a fantastic game to coach. The lads followed out my instructions.

“We had a lot of defending to do in the first half playing up the slight slope and we were grateful for the experience of Nick Colgan and Joel Lynch. It was always our game plan to come in with a clean sheet so that in the second half we could be more adventurous. We went three and four upfront in the second half to get the break and I felt when we did, it was deserved.

“We had a couple of 17 and 18 year-olds making their full debuts for us today which makes the result even sweeter. It has been a fantastic day out; we came to keep a clean sheet, play some football and win the game and we have ticked all the boxes.”

Town will now travel to Charlton who are the Champions of the Southern section.

“We have set ourselves up nicely for it,” Steve said. We will recover now and train ourselves up for the next challenge.”
