Read our off the field preview of Saturday’s game
The first of six very important games in the rest of Town’s 2012/13 season takes place on Saturday when Peterborough United visit the Stadium – and there’s plenty to look forward to off the pitch too!
The Terriers are using Saturday’s game to celebrate the achievements of the Academy on Saturday, with lots of Town’s future stars attending and taking part in the afternoon.
The Club’s young Academy footballers will form the prestigious pre-match guard of honour as both teams enter the field of play ahead of the 3pm kick-off, whereas at half time the Under-9 to Under-12 age groups will take part in an exhibition penalty shoot-out.
The new batch of Under-16s that will start their two year scholarships in the 2013/14 season will be presented to Town fans during the half time break too – click HERE for further information on them.
The Club is also supporting the ‘Respect’ campaign on Saturday, with Town’s Under-13 age group parading the Respect banner both ahead of the game and during the half time break.
Bobby Madley from the West Riding County FA commented:
“West Riding County FA are thrilled to be joining Huddersfield Town Football Club in promoting the FA Respect Programme. West Riding is committed to improving standards in the grassroots game across the whole county with the passion to make football a safe and enjoyable experience for every player, referee, coach and spectator. We each have a responsibility to ensure the next generation of players and referees have the very best environment in which to develop their skills by embracing the core ideas of the Respect Programme.
“It is fantastic to have one of our professional football clubs recognising not only the importance of Respect but also the key role professional players have on the attitudes of young supporters and players.”
The Under-13 group will be joined on their half time lap of the pitch by Town fan Alan Boothroyd, who will have reached Huddersfield just in time for the game. 52 year-old Alan is currently running the length of the country to raise money for the Keep It Up campaign – click HERE for more info on his amazing effort!
Alan will also make an appearance at Canalside ahead of the game, where the pre-match question and answer session will be conducted with Coronation Street star Chris Fountain – click HERE for full info! Don’t forget that Town’s Under-18s will look to continue their recent good run when they take on Wigan Athletic in an 11am kick-off on the Canal pitches; why not come down and watch the stars of tomorrow for free?
The Peterborough game is also the latest Schools and Club Focus match of the season, so a bumper crowd of youngsters is expected in the Fantastic Family Stand. They will be greeted by ‘Artifaces’, who will happily paint the face of children ahead of kick-off!
Town will have one special young guest in the Boardroom; Joel Bearder, who will be accompanied by his brother and parents. Click HERE to read about Joel.
