YBS CONTINUE SUPPORT OF ACADEMY

Building Society raises £71,892 during 2011/12

Yorkshire Building Society is continuing its partnership with Huddersfield Town for an 11th year following on from the success of the 2011/12 season, which saw supporters and the Society raise £71,892 for the Club's Academy!

Yorkshire Building Society is one of Town's key affinity partners and the cash earned through the Terriers Account provides vital income to the Academy.
The affinity relationship means that twice a year the Academy receives a donation of 1% of the total cash balances held in all Terriers accounts - a big contribution towards youth development at the Club.

Town first received a donation from the Yorkshire Building Society back in 2002, when £71,094 was given to the Club's Academy. Every season since, the Club has received cash to help develop and sustain the Academy. Over the years it has helped the likes of Jonathan Stead, Alex Smithies and more recently Jack Hunt all progress through the Academy and make an impact on the first team stage.

During the 2011/12 season the Society donated £71,892 to the Academy following on from the impressive £91,980 contributed in the season previous.

Mark Lillis, Huddersfield Town Academy Manager said:

"The money that the Academy receives through the Terriers Account is invaluable to us. Affinity relationships like these are key to the Academy's future as they allow us to provide excellent facilities for up and coming players."

Town's Business Development Manager Mark Davies commented:

"It's fantastic to see such a large amount being donated once again this season. I would like to say a big 'thank you' to every Town fan that has helped to support the Academy financially by opening and saving in a Terriers Account."

Mike Helliwell, YBS Savings Product Manager and Town season ticket holder, said:

"We're delighted to have supported Town for another year and are continuing to offer fans another way of supporting their favourite team through the Terriers Account.

"It's great to see the contribution from the account aid the development of new talent through the Academy and we wish Town all the best for the new season back in the Championship."

Town fans can open a Terriers Account with as little as £1 for under 18s, and with a minimum of £100 for over 18s. Simply call into a branch of Yorkshire Building Society for more information, or contact Robyn Deegan by email on mark.davies@htafc.com.
