TOWN’S TEAM vs. IPSWICH

1 September 2012

Two changes to starting XI; Hammill on bench

Huddersfield Town Manager Simon Grayson has made two changes to his team for today’s npower Championship game at Ipswich Town; 3pm kick-off at Portman Road.

Jordan Rhodes’ departure during the week has resulted in Lee Novak stepping up from the bench into the starting XI this afternoon, while the hamstring injury suffered by Sean Scannell in the victory over Burnley a week ago has handed Danny Ward the opportunity to shine.

Town have successfully deployed a 4-4-2 formation recently, but could switch back to the 4-3-3 shape that brought about such an impressive performance at Cardiff on the opening day of the season.

Either way, Alex Smithies will start in goal today behind a back four of Paul Dixon, last week’s ‘Man of the Match’ Joel Lynch, skipper Peter Clarke and Jack Hunt. Adam Clayton, Oliver Norwood, Keith Southern and Danny Ward – the latter making his 100th career appearance today – make up Town’s midfield options, with Lee Novak and loanee James Vaughan in attack.

New boy Adam Hammill is among the substitutes this afternoon, as well as Ipswich Town old boy Alan Lee.
