Cyclists embark on Money for Miles challenge

Huddersfield Town Commercial Director Sean Jarvis is back on his bike again all in the aid of charity!

On 8 September 2012, a group of cyclists from all walks of life will be embarking on a Money for Miles challenge to celebrate the memory of Tomek Laskowski.

The group, led by Joe Formisano of Mamas & Papas will be cycling coast to coast over just two days taking in 153 miles and 3,400ft of climbs.  Mamas & Papas have chosen Town's Charity partner The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice as their charity of choice, however this latest endeavour was inspired by a very personal experience.

“Earlier this year two members of the Mamas & Papas family sadly lost their beautiful little boy Tomek who was only with them for a short but precious time,” commented Sales Director, Joe. “During this time Forget Me Not supported the family and proved what an important and fantastic charity they are.”

In a show of support for the family and to raise all important funds, people from various walks of like have come together to take part in the challenge. Cyclists include Tom Ellis of Ellis Furniture, Sandro Bevilacqua of Continental Wines and Food Ltd and Sean Jarvis of Huddersfield Town, to name but a few.

Peter Branson CEO of The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice is also taking part in this challenge: “This ride will be a significant challenge for everyone who has chosen to take part. Sadly, however, every day children and families face their own massive challenges but they have no choice. At Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice we will do anything possible to take some of that burden from the children and families, and events like this are immensely important in ensuring we can afford to keep providing that support. I am exceptionally grateful for the support of Mamas & Papas and all the committed riders taking part and it’s an honour to be riding with such great people”

Sean Jarvis added: “The football club realise the excellent work that the Forget Me Not trust delivers as a charity and I felt it was only right that on behalf of the football club I got back on my bike to help raise as much money as possible.”

Tomek’s parents Marie and Marek are heavily involved in the project and keen to raise all important funds for the hospice who made such a big difference to them at an incredibly difficult time. They have shared their story on the team Just Giving page, which is where you can pledge your support - www.justgiving.com/Tomek-Laskowski.

The team are now looking for sponsors to support this important fundraising event. Current sponsors include Tommee Tippee and Stokke, however there are a number of opportunities available and the team would love to hear from any interested companies.
