IRISH TESTIMONIAL GAME FOR TOWN

19 September 2012

Grayson taking side to Crusaders on 10 October

Huddersfield Town will take a squad to Belfast in October to play Danske Bank Premiership side Crusaders FC in a friendly game.

The match, which is scheduled for Wednesday 10 October at Seaview football ground, is a testimonial game for Crusaders Captain Colin Coates and will kick-off at 7.45pm.

The Terriers have been invited thanks to the Northern Irish links of First Team Coach Glynn Snodin. ‘Snods’ was Assistant Manager to the national side during Nigel Worthington’s spell as Manager, during which time Coates was capped for the first time.

Huddersfield Town Manager Simon Grayson commented:

“Glynn Snodin is our connection to Colin Coates from their time together in the Northern Ireland national setup and it is nice for the Club to be asked to go over and take part in his testimonial celebrations. We’re delighted to be a part of this.

“This is a unique opportunity for us to take a squad to a different country and take part in a game. As a testimonial it won’t be full-blooded and we will be without our lads who are on international duty, but this gives us the opportunity to bring some of the younger lads into the squad to have a game with the senior professionals.”

First Team Coach Snodin added:

“I know Colin from when we brought him into the Northern Ireland squad and it will be a pleasure to visit Belfast for his testimonial.

“He wears his heart on his sleeve on the pitch and is a smashing lad. I hope he has a great testimonial year.

“Northern Ireland is a great place; the people love their football and I really enjoyed the years I spent there. It will be really nice to go back.”

Tickets for the game are priced at £10 for adults and £7 concessions.
