Pitch work on-going as classrooms arrive

Upgrades to Canalside Sports Complex have made a real impact over the last few weeks, with the pitch redevelopment reaching a crucial phase and the Academy buildings arriving on site.

The final stages of work on the main pitch plateau are currently under way, with preparations being made ahead of the seeding process in the next 10-14 days.

Once that work is complete, the foundations will be readied for the new full size 3G pitch – with a target of early New Year to complete the installation process.

Whilst this work continues, groundwork is currently being put in to create a new bowling green for members around the back of the main building.

Another noticeable difference at Town’s training ground is the installation of four new buildings at the rear. Two of these rooms will be used as classrooms by the Club’s Academy, housing a maximum of 40 players – this work is aimed to be commissioned for 17 September. A specialist ‘Football Analysis’ room and Team Meeting room will also be completed as part of the Club’s commitment towards facilities in keeping with the new Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).

Internal work inside the main building also continues, following hot on the heels of the recent refurbishment of the gym (click HERE for full info on the gym refurb). One of the old snooker rooms has been converted into a larger function room, with work well on track for the opening target of early October.

The enlarged function room will take Canalside to new heights in terms of size and capacity on match days and non-match day events for supporters and members.

Design work is being overseen by Club Partners One17 Design and Andy Thornton, whilst building work is courtesy of Club Partner Radcliffe Construction.

Following completion of the room, next on the agenda is a complete reinstallation of the toilets and work on the main reception area ahead of improvements to the look of the outside of the main building as we make a facility to be proud of.
