Midfielder set to stay out on loan
Chris Atkinson has today extended his loan spell at npower League 2 Chesterfield for a further month.
The 20 year-old joined the Spireites on a one month youth loan deal in September, which expired on Saturday.
Atkinson will now stay at the Proact Stadium on a youth loan until 24 November inclusive.
Huddersfield Town Manager Simon Grayson commented:
“The loan move has worked perfectly for all the involved parties and it only makes sense for Chris to stay at Chesterfield for another month. To have scored three goals in nine appearances is an impressive feat for a midfielder and hopefully he will continue to impress over the next month.
“We’ll keep a close eye on his progress whilst he is out on loan, as we do with all our development players getting games at other clubs.”
Tommy Wright, Chris’ Caretaker Manager at Chesterfield, said:
“He has a knack of getting into the box and he timed his run perfectly for the goal – that is why I brought him to the Club,” Wright commented following Chris’ winner at Exeter on Saturday. “I am delighted with him; he has come up with some vital, winning goals for us.”
The central midfielder has made nine appearances after scoring on his debut against Wycombe on September 15. The Academy graduate has gone on to score two more goals, both winners away at Aldershot and Exeter.
