72 SCHOOLS ATTEND ‘FOCUS MATCH’!

23 October 2012

Schools receive over £2,000 in cashback

1,695 school children and parents from 72 local attended Town’s first ‘Schools Focus’ match of the season on Saturday against Wolves.

The total breaks Town’s previous highest record of 1,383 when the Terriers played MK Dons last season.

Town’s Schools Partnership scheme offers the chance for local schools to get involved with the Club and enjoy a raft of benefits such as player appearances, club support at school events and access to ticketing cashback to help with the purchase of sporting equipment.

The 72 schools involved in the promotion all received cashback from tickets sold to the 1,695 attendees on Saturday, with a total of £2,309 being given back to the schools.

Partner schools Crowlees, Golcar Junior and Infant, Kirkheaton Primary, Lindley Juniors, Meltham Primary and Upperthong raised the largest amount of money through the cashback incentive.

Huddersfield Town’s Supporter Partnerships Manager Robyn Deegan was delighted at the success of the first ‘Schools Focus’ match of the season:

"The uptake was fantastic and we always like to break records," said Robyn. "Since we launched the scheme it's gone from strength to strength and Saturday's achievement is a result of all the hard work going on behind the scenes of both the Club and the schools involved.

"As a Club we recognise our importance in the community and in the current climate we are keen to help in any way we can to allow people participating in all sport to continue.

"On behalf of the Club I'd like to thank all of those who came to Saturday's match as well as the schools involved in the Partnership to date."

Mrs Sheard from Kirkeaton Primary School commented:

“We are delighted at the success of the game and plan to use the cashback money to purchase outdoor equipment for the children to use in the playground.”
