Town fans getting behind ‘Keep It Up’ event
100 people are now signed up to take part in the Club’s latest challenge in aid of the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign – ‘Walk for Pounds 2’, a sponsored 19 mile walk from Huddersfield to Barnsley FC!
The walk, which is sponsored by Club partners Orchard Environmental, raises funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the HTAFC Academy, with each £1 donated being split 50p for each cause.
The walk will set off for Oakwell from Canalside on Leeds Road at approximately 7am on Saturday 10 November, with the planned route going up to Waterloo, through Flockton, to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, to Darton and into Barnsley in time for kick off at 3pm.
Last season, over 180 people walked to Bury’s Gigg Lane for the KIU campaign, raising an incredible £27,000.
Commercial Director Sean Jarvis commented, “We are very pleased to see Town fans once again getting behind another ‘Keep It Up’ campaign event- and it’s great 100 people have already signed up!
“We’d love people to spread the word and help us to make a difference in the community by getting involved in the walk and raising funds for two fantastic causes; the YAA and our own Academy.
“Our aim is to raise £1 million for ‘Keep It Up’, and we are confident we can get there with your help!”
So far, over £710,000 has been raised for the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign, with the target being £1 million by the end of the 2012/13 season.
