NOVAK WELCOMES CHURCH ARRIVAL
9 November 2012
Town striker Lee Novak has today welcomed the arrival of Simon Church to Huddersfield Town and hopes the new boy can help the Terriers maintain their good form at Barnsley this weekend.
“He is looking sharp in training. I welcome competition for places and with James Vaughan and Jermaine Beckford out recently, it makes sense to sign him,” Lee told htafc.com.
Saturday’s Yorkshire derby comes on the back of Tuesday’s night last-gasp draw at home to Blackburn Rovers and Lee believes the point was just rewards for the work the Terriers put in.
“I put in 100% on Tuesday. I ran until I couldn’t physically run anymore. Adrenaline got me through the last 10 minutes.
“Even when we were 2-1 down, I thought we were the better team. Maybe the goal I scored in the last minute could have been the winner, but that’s football.”
Novak is enjoying his first taste of npower Championship football and believes he owes a lot in his career to the chance he received at Gateshead.
Novak said: “I owe a lot to Gateshead. I still speak to a lot of the lads, the Manager and the Chairman. I know a lot of teams were interested in me, but I was glad to come here.”
Speaking about Town’s Yorkshire derby on Saturday, where his side will lock horns with Barnsley, Novak has highlighted the importance of the Town fans:
“The fans have been incredible this season, and I am sure Saturday will be no different,” he said.
