Away tie for Town’s youngsters
The draw for the Third Round Proper of The FA Youth Cup has been made at Wembley, handing Town’s under-18 side an away draw at either Lincoln City or Hartlepool United.
All 32 Third Round ties are scheduled to be played by 15 December; keep checking htafc.com for a confirmed date of the fixture.
Town’s opponent will be confirmed when Lincoln and Hartlepool play their second round tie on Saturday 17 November.
Our under-18 side played Hartlepool in the same competition just five years ago, coming out on top in a dramatic 4-3 home win in a First Round tie in November 2007. Their youngsters currently play in the Youth Alliance and have already beaten Fleetwood Town on penalties in the First Round.
Town’s last Youth Cup meeting with Lincoln was way back in 1994, when the Terriers dismissed their hosts 10-1 at Sincil Bank. City also play in the Youth Alliance League, but entered the Youth Cup at the qualifying stage due as their senior side play in the Blue Square Bet Premier division. So far they have recorded heavy victories over Lutterworth Athletic, Blaby & Whetstone, Mansfield Town and Ilkeston before an impressive win over Notts County in the First Round Proper.
Town’s best FA Youth Cup performance came back in 1974 when they became the first side from Yorkshire to reach the Final, but unfortunately the Young Terriers lost a two legged final to Tottenham Hotspur.
