Local youngsters visit Stockleys Sweets

Huddersfield Town treated several young fans to a day to remember on Monday – with a trip to Stockleys Sweet Factory!

The Club ran a competition during the half-time interval of the recent home win over Wolves and five lucky youngsters were selected at random for the trip of a lifetime, along with a few other lucky selected guests.

The kids - Harry Crowther, Oliver Barnett, Joshua Birdsall, Jack and Francesca Young, Megan Birkhead, Ben Pogson, Charlie Auty, Jack Hepworth and their families were accompanied by Town’s Club Ambassador Andy Booth on a coach from Canalside to Stockleys Sweet Factory in Blackburn.

During their stay the kids went into the Boardroom and learned about the history of the factory; what sorts of sweets they make and how they are made.

They also got involved in a taste test and got the chance to design a new sweet bag before leaving with a specially personalised bag of sweets featuring their name.

Stockleys Sweets will be Match Sponsor at the upcoming game with Blackburn on 6 November and kindly provided food for the children on the day. Their Managing Director, Andy Needham, commented:

"We were delighted to welcome Boothy and the kids from Huddersfield Town on Monday - between them they certainly managed to demolish quite a few sweets!

“I am a massive admirer of the work Huddersfield Town does in the community and with the younger fans, who are the future of our Club. To be able to give just a little back was very satisfying for all concerned at Stockleys Sweets."

Huddersfield Town’s Supporter Partnerships Manager Robyn Deegan added:

“Everyone at Huddersfield Town would like to thank Stockleys Sweets for making this trip possible for the kids. We’ve had some brilliant feedback from the day and it was great that we could do our part to make this dream become a reality.

“The Club is always looking at ways that we can add value for its supporters and this was a superb, innovative way of doing so for a few of our younger fans.”
