Football League announces fees paid by clubs
The Football League has published its annual Agents' Fees report for the 2011/12 season.
The report relates to payments made from 1 October 2011- 30 September 2012, a period in which Huddersfield Town was again very active in the transfer market.
In the year, payments were made for 36 player transactions incurred agents’ fees; these deals include new signings, outgoings, contract renewals and extensions plus some payments relating to deals done in prior years. During the period, the fees have totalled £363,635.50.
It covers the permanent signings in January 2012 of Kallum Higginbotham and Murray Wallace (pictured above), whereas the summer 2012 signings of Joel Lynch, Adam Clayton, Oliver Norwood, Sean Scannell and Paul Dixon also fell within this period.
There were also a series of incoming loans, including Sean Morrison, Diego Arismendi and Jon Parkin.
Some payments were incurred from incoming permanent deals made during the summer of 2011 including Danny Ward, Calum Woods, Anton Robinson, Oscar Gobern and Simon Thomas.
The period also includes contract renewals and extensions for the likes of Jordan Rhodes and Jack Hunt, as well as residual payments being made on the previous permanent transfers of the likes of Alan Lee, Jamie McCombe and Scott Arfield.
Huddersfield Town Chief Executive Nigel Clibbens commented:
"As Huddersfield Town has climbed up the Football League ladder, the importance of agents with regards to player transactions and recruitment becomes greater and greater.
"Almost without exception agents have played a positive role in our dealings in both the recruitment of players and assisting in their departure. It's down to each individual club to get value for money and control what they pay - if clubs don't like the involvement of agents they can refuse to deal with them, but it will impact on players going to their club.
"During the ‘New Era’ we have had a large number of deals and that was no different during the 2011/12 period. In the context of the players we have brought in and the number that has left, we continue to measure up very well compared to others and keep a tight rein."
