Alex visits his old school – with the Play-Off Trophy!

Alex Smithies went back to his old junior school last week to show off the npower League 1 Play-Off Trophy!
Accompanied by Club Ambassador Andy Booth, Alex visited Golcar Junior and Infant School – who are a Schools Partner of Huddersfield Town – with the trophy so that kids to get their picture and get an autograph off their local hero.
Huddersfield Town legend ‘Boothy’ told
“The kids were clearly delighted to see the trophy – they all wanted their turn to lift it and have their picture – but I thought having Alex there added a lot to their day.
“He’s had such a good career already but he had a rough time with injuries last season and we were all delighted that his year finished on a high. In fact, I don’t think there is a bigger high than scoring the winning penalty in a Play-Off Final for your hometown team!
“Alex told me that he drew a lot of attention from a group when he went shopping in Golcar the other day and I think it’s taking some getting used to. You could see the kids were really excited to see him and I’d like to thank Alex for coming to the school with me.”
