Southern relishing Boxing Day game vs. Blackpool

Town midfielder Keith Southern insists it will be ‘business as usual’ for him when his former club Blackpool come to Huddersfield on Boxing Day.

Keith played in his testimonial game at Bloomfield Road during the summer after 10 years with Blackpool, but he was adamant that he only has one thing in mind on Boxing Day – to help the Terriers secure all three points.

“It’ll be a great game – I’m looking forward to it,” Keith told htafc.com. “I’ve always said that Blackpool is a fantastic club, but it’s no better than Huddersfield; this is a fantastic place and I’m proud to be a Huddersfield Town player now.

“I can’t forget the memorable times I had at Blackpool, but for 90 minutes I’ll put my body on the line and give it everything I’ve got. Hopefully we can get something similar to the win we got at Bloomfield Road earlier in the season.

“There are no easy games in this League. Blackpool are very strong and they’ll be confident because they’ve been in decent form. It’ll be another tough test, but we’re more than capable of winning.

“After the game perhaps I’ll meet with one or two friends, but until then it’s business as usual.”

After away days at Hull and Crystal Palace, Southern is looking forward to getting back on home soil with the upcoming visits on Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday.

“It will be nice to get back to a home game. We’ve struggled a little of late, but even against ten men there were some real positives on Saturday; we showed a lot of pride and came out with a result I thought we deserved. We have a fantastic opportunity on Wednesday to make it four points from a possible six.”
