CHARLTON AWAY IN FA CUP

2 December 2012

Third Round draw made at Wembley Stadium

Huddersfield Town will play away at Charlton Athletic in the Third Round of this season’s FA Cup with Budweiser.

The tie will be played over the weekend of 5/6 January 2013.

The draw was made at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with former Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba selecting Town’s number 18 ball.

This FA Cup tie will be a repeat of the recent npower Championship game between the two sides at the Valley, which ended 1-1 thanks to Adam Clayton’s late penalty after Keith Southern had been sent off earlier in the tie.

Town has not played Charlton in the FA Cup since January 1958, when a 2-2 draw at Leeds Road was followed by a 1-0 home win for the Addicks. Those games came in the same season as Town’s historic 7-6 defeat at the Valley.

The first ever meeting between the pair came in the FA Cup in January 1926, when Town ran out as 1-0 winners in London.
