TOWN’S TEAM vs. PRESTON NORTH END

13 August 2012

Striker Spencer handed competitive debut

Manager Simon Grayson has handed Academy graduate Jimmy Spencer his competitive Huddersfield Town debut in tonight’s Capital One Cup tie at Preston North End; 7.45pm kick-off at Deepdale.

The 20 year-old has made 84 senior appearances during loan spells at Morecambe and Cheltenham Town during the past two seasons, but tonight is his first appearance for the Terriers as he leads the line against Town’s npower League 1 opponents.

Simon Grayson has named a strong side, but is missing the quintet of Joel Lynch, Murray Wallace, Oliver Norwood, Sean Scannell and Jordan Rhodes due to their international commitments. However, four summer signings still make their Town debut this evening.

Town look likely to line up 4-3-3 tonight, with goalkeeper Alex Smithies protected by a back four of debutant Paul Dixon; skipper Peter Clarke – making his 150th start for the Club tonight – new boy Anthony Gerrard and Jack Hunt. Oscar Gobern teams up with new signings Adam Clayton and Keith Southern in the central midfield trio, with Danny Ward and Lee Novak flanking Spencer in attack.
