B TEAM TRIUMPH AT BOLTON!

15 August 2023

Important minutes gained for players in win over Bolton Wanderers

- Bolton Wanderers 0-4 Huddersfield Town B
- Strong B Team victorious over Bolton Wanderers
- Goals from Mahoney, Hudlin, High and Phillips

A strong Huddersfield Town B team were triumphant over Bolton Wanderers this afternoon with goals from Connor Mahoney, Kyle Hudlin, Scott High and Kieran Phillips upon his return the difference.

Four goals, two each half, secured the win for our B Team in this afternoon’s friendly against Bolton Wanderers, which saw the welcome return of Kieran Phillips as he came on in the second half for the first time since sustaining his injury whilst at Morecambe last season.

This game saw plenty of First Team players gain important minutes on the road.

The first goal came from Connor Mahoney after a lovely ball was crossed into the box by Brodie Spencer, Mahoney then volleyed the ball into the back of the net with his left foot and put the Terriers ahead.

Kyle Hudlin was next to get his name on the scoresheet as he scored the rebound from Scott High’s attempt on goal. Lovely play between Josh Austerfield and High, who was this afternoon’s captain, meant that High was able to have a shot on goal, but this was saved – so Hudlin scored the rebound for Town to go into the break 0-2 up.

Early in the second half, High was given another chance and scored to make it three. Austerfield sent a lovely diagonal ball again to Mahoney who controlled it well and played it to High, who then slotted it home past the Bolton ‘keeper.

Kieran Phillips was welcomed back after the lengthy injury he got last year and scored upon his return – he converted the penalty Town were awarded after a handball by Bolton in the penalty area as he fired the ball into the bottom corner. This meant that Town secured the win and the clean sheet as they beat Bolton Wanderers 0-4.
