First game in over two weeks for Huddersfield Town B Team

Huddersfield Town’s B Team are back in action on Friday 24 March, when they travel to take on Barnsley in a 2pm kick-off.

The Young Terriers travel to South Yorkshire to play Barnsley in a friendly on Friday 24 march at 2pm, with the game taking place at the Oakwell Training Ground (Grove Street, Barnsley, S71 1ET).

Town’s B Team come into this game on the back of a 3-1 away Central League win over Accrington Stanley on Tuesday 7 March, which saw an opening goal from Tom Iorpenda and two goals from Ernaldo Krasniqi after he came off the bench.

Our last trip to Barnsley in September saw goals from Connor Mahoney and Ben Jackson secure the win in the friendly that finished two one in our favour, and our Young Terriers will be looking to deliver the same result on Friday.

Our youngsters will be in our all-black away kit for tomorrow's fixture.

B TEAM: FIRST TEAMERS GET MINUTES AT BARNSLEY

The Young Terriers face defeat in a friendly against Barnsley this afternoon

Several members of Neil Warnock's First Team squad got important minutes under their belts in our latest B Team game of the season at Barnsley on Friday afternoon.

In the first five minutes of play, Barnsley pressed high and were presented with a double chance however Will Boyle and Mustapha Olagunju denied the Reds a successful breakthrough.

Barnsley’s forwards tried to gain the early advantage, but their efforts fell short as the shot went just wide of Jacob Chapman’s goal.

Although the Reds produced the better of the chances, they were no match for Town’s back line.

The Young Terriers were eager to grasp a hold of an advantage in the Yorkshire derby and having improved interplay in the midfield the B Team were presented with some excellent opportunities.

After a couple of shots were blocked by the keeper, the B Team kept pressing high with aims of taking control of the game and asserting their dominance on the pitch.

Their continuous fight proved a success as a goal from Donay O’Brien Brady in the 44th minute left the B Team 0-1 up at half time.

The Young Terriers came into the second half wanting to build on their advantage, with hopes of securing a win.

A great chance was given to Tyreece Simpson as he carried the ball into the box and shot from close range but unfortunately the ball clipped the crossbar and goes out for a goal kick.

In the 52nd minute Barnsley scored the equaliser, and it was all to play for as both sides fought vigorously for the advantage.

Although the B Team were strong in their defence, in the 83rd minute our hosts secured their victory with another goal.

An excellent late chance came for the B Team came as the returning Pat Jones carried the ball forward from the halfway line into the attacking area, taking a shot that went just wide of the net.

In the last five minutes of play the Young Terriers showed real effort in their attempt to make a breakthrough but they were unable to equalise the scoreline and the game ended 2-1 to our hosts.
