Young Terriers unbeaten in second pre-season friendly

Huddersfield Town's B Team drew 2-2 against an experienced Scunthorpe United team at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
It was an experimental Jon Worthington side, made up of younger players and five trialists, due to a number of regular B Team players training with Carlos Corberán’s First Team, but they stood up well to several well-known names in their opposition, including ex-Bournemouth midfielder Liam Feeney, Kgosi Ntlhe and an experienced centre back pairing of Andrew Boyce and George Taft.
The Young Terriers were out of the blocks quickly, with Donay O'Brien-Brady playing Ben Midgley in behind the Scunthorpe defence. Our Captain then played a ball across the face of goal for Joel Mumbongo to tap home after six minutes.
Not long after taking the lead O'Brien-Brady and Ibrahim Jalloh both had shots at goal. The first effort was saved by Owen Foster, before Jalloh's effort went narrowly wide.
Mumbongo had a chance for a second after just 15 minutes of play, but the visitors defence managed to isolate the striker before taking the ball off of him deep in the final third.
Scunthorpe nearly found an equaliser through Joe Nuttall, but a crucial sliding tackle from David Adewoju kept Worthy’s side ahead.
However, just after the half hour mark Scunthorpe did find their equaliser through Andrew Boyce, who got his head to the ball following a Feeney corner.
After their equaliser, the visitors piled on the pressure, but some strong defending from Midgley and Ibrahim Bakare prevented the Lincolnshire opponents from scoring from another corner.
Just before half-time, the Young Terriers had a chance to restore their lead after a brilliant team move involving six players led to an opening for Mumbongo. Unfortunately, he was ultimately ruled offside by the linesman.
Town made three half-time substitutes with Adewoju, Luke Daley, and Midgley being replaced by Shane Maroodza, Charles Ondo, and Ernaldo Krasniqi.
Early in the second half Mumbongo was brought down in the box by the Scunthorpe defence. The striker then converted the spot-kick, restoring the lead for the Young Terriers and bagging his second goal of the game.
Just five minutes later, the visitors made it 2-2 when Feeney put the ball into an empty net after finding space behind the Young Terriers’ defence.
With the game equal again both sides made substitutions, but it was O'Brien-Brady who continued to cause problems for the Scunthorpe defence as he made a run in behind the back line before having a shot saved by Foster.
With 15 minutes remaining the visitors started to amp up the pressure on Town's box. Substitute goalkeeper Michael Roxburgh made a smart save to keep the game even.
Roxburgh's save inspired the Young Terriers to look for a late winner with TQ Addy and Neo Eccleston causing problems down the left and right wings.
Eventually this relentless pressure led to a corner for Jon Worthington's side, with Krasniqi narrowly missing out on the well-placed corner from Michael Stone.
