B TEAM: ADEWOJU AND JACKSON SCORE IN B TEAM WIN

24 February 2023

Victory for the B Team in friendly against Sheffield United

- Huddersfield Town B 2-1 Sheffield United
- Familiar faces appear in B Team friendly
- Goal and assist from Jackson secures win over the Blades

Huddersfield Town’s B Team took control of the game in the second half, which led to their 2-1 win against Sheffield United in a friendly at the Millers Oil High Performance Complex on Friday afternoon.

After the B Team were narrowly defeated against Fleetwood Town in a Central League game on Tuesday, they bounced back with a 2-1 victory over Sheffield United.

In an end-to-end affair, the Young Terriers showed unwavering effort as they came away with a win against their South Yorkshire opponents at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex.

The game started and the action soon followed. Sheffield United were on the attack but great defensive work from Ben Jackson denied them the chance to cross and led to a corner for the Blades.

Soon after, in the 11th minute, our visitors gained the advantage after a curling shot couldn’t be stopped by Jacob Chapman. Despite falling behind, the Young Terriers didn’t sit back, but rather took control of the game and were driven to get the equaliser.

After a couple of shots were blocked by the Sheffield United ‘keeper, our B Team continued pressing high but were unable to level the scoreline before the half time whistle.

With the visitors a goal ahead, the B Team secured two goals in the second half, which saw a few substitutions made for Town.

After good defensive play by the Blades, a corner was awarded to Town. Ben Jackson took the set-piece, which led to David Adewoju finding the back of the net in the middle of a scramble to get the equaliser. Despite the protests from our visitors inside the box, the goal was awarded, and we were level as we headed not the final 15 minutes of the game.

This didn’t stop the Young Terriers’ search for a winner as they were not settling for a draw. Jackson secured Town the advantage after he fired a free kick straight into the back of the net in the final 10 minutes of play.

In the 88th minute, another chance appeared for Town as Luke Daley took a shot from the side of the box, but it was cleared off the line by a Sheffield United defender.

Despite the action packed final moments as Sheffield tried to make a breakthrough, they were unable to equalise, and the game ended 2-1.
