YOUNG B TEAM SIDE SUFFER DEFEAT AT HOME

8 February 2023

B Team defeated at home in the Central League

- Huddersfield Town B 0-3 Accrington Stanley
- Very young B Team side defeated
- Next play Blackpool on Wednesday 15 February at 1pm

Huddersfield Town’s young B Team side were defeated by Accrington Stanley on Wednesday afternoon in the Central League at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex.

A young B Team side took to the pitch today, following their loss in the Premier League Cup last night we called upon some younger lads for today’s fixture.

Up against an experienced Accrington Stanley team, the youngsters conceded two goals within the opening five minutes through a headed goal from close range and the second goal was through an interception straight after kick-off, which was then slotted into the bottom corner.

The third goal for the visitors came just before the whistle for half time and this would be the final goal they scored.

Despite the scoreline, our young goalkeeper Josh Mazfari had a great game and made some excellent saves to keep our young lads motivated.

Other than the three goals, the rest of the chances came from the Terriers as they pushed forwards with their unwavering effort. Donay O’Brien-Brady had his fair share of shots on target from outside the box, but the Accrington Stanley ‘keeper kept the ball out of the net to keep the clean sheet.

Omari Mrisho was shown the red card in the 63rd minute after an altercation with an opposition player, Town were down to 10 men for the rest of the game but held strong and didn’t concede anymore goals.

Our best play of the game came towards the end, as Dan Vost sent a fantastic ball down the left for Fope deru, who ran onto the and drove it into the box before he sent a curling shot on target towards the goal – the ‘keeper dove to make the save.

Our Young Terriers are back in action on Wednesday 15 February in a 1pm kick-off at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex, when they host Blackpool.
