Young Terriers beaten at Canalside

- Central League defeat for Young Terriers
- First minutes back from injury for Pat Jones and Sam Peplow

A young Huddersfield Town B Team were beaten 0-4 by Fleetwood Town at Canalside on Tuesday afternoon.

The game saw Pat Jones and Sam Peplow get important minutes as they begin their return to action from long-term injury.

Fleetwood started the game on the front foot, taking a two-goal lead within six minutes.

Max McMillan provided the visitors first goal in the fourth minute, getting in behind Max Dearnley to reach a ball over the top from Sam Bird and send it into the back of the net.

Shayden Morris went on to double Fleetwood’s lead just two minutes later, beating Dearnley in a one-vs-one after being played through.

Luke Daley came closest to pulling one back for Town in the 14th minute, but some excellent defending from the visitors saw his cross blocked.

Moments later, Jones saw an attempt of his ownt diverted wide.

Fleetwood added their third in the 22nd minute, with McMillan bagging his brace.

The 31st minute saw the visitors seal their win, with Morris also completing his brace.

As the clock counted down to half-time, Jones came close on two occasions for the Young Terriers. His first chance saw him sprint to get to a high cross from Adewoju, but Billy Crellin got off his line to smother it.

His second was a strike from distance, but Crellin was able to deny him again.

Fleetwood started the second half the brighter of the two sides, with Morris attempting to complete his hat-trick within the opening minutes. Fortunately, Dearnley was quick to scoop up the ball.

The game settled for a period, with neither side able to create any clear cut chances.

Town Captain Ben Midgley unleashed an excellent block as the clock showed an hour gone to deny the visitors their fifth.

Fleetwood continued to pile on the pressure, with Akiel Raffie trying his luck on two seperate attempts.

Second half substitute Jayden Smith had the best chance of the game for Town. He latched onto an excellent cross from Fope Deru, but a brillaint save from Crellin sent his strike onto the post!

The referee blew his whistle, seeing Fleetwood leave Canalside with all three Central League points.
