REPORT: BRENTFORD B 2-0 TOWN EDT

20 December 2019

Second-half goals against Brentford B condemned Town’s EDT to defeat

- Town’s EDT beaten by Brentford B
- Three First Team players featured for Leigh Bromby’s side
- Final game of the New Year for the Young Terriers

Huddersfield Town’s Elite Development Team was beaten 2-0 by Brentford B away from home in their final game before the New Year.

Three First Team players started for Leigh Bromby’s side, but two goals in the second half condemned the Young Terriers to defeat.

Town got off to a better start and created some chances. The first fell to young defender Nassim Kherbouche who’s shot was deflected behind for a corner. Terence Kongolo got on the end of the resulting set piece but couldn’t get his header on target.

The youngsters’ pressure continued with Captain Micah Obiero having two openings; his first forced the ‘keeper into a good save before his latter went straight at the ‘keeper.

Despite Town’s dominance they went behind early in in the second half. Christian Tue Jensen whipped a well-taken free-kick past Jacob Chapman to give the home side the lead.

The goal put the Bees into the ascendency with two cross-come-shots flying past the right upright in quick succession.

Just after the hour mark the home side doubled their advantage through Joe Adams. They attacked clinically after the Terriers gave the ball away on the left hand-side.

Town almost equalised moments later. Ilounga Pata’s cross was met by the trialist in the area, but his header drifted wide of target.

With 15 minutes remaining Town were reduced to 10-men as Jaheim Headley was sent off for dissent.

Micah Obiero had a late chance for Leigh Bromby’s youngsters. He was slipped through by Reece Brown, turned on the edge of the area and tried to chip the ‘keeper. His effort, however, hit the top of the bar.
