First Team players gain valuable minutes against Burnley

- Town's Elite Development Team draw with Burnley
- Striker Kit Elliott made it onto the score sheet
- Valuable minutes for several First Team squad members

Five members of Huddersfield Town’s First Team squad got valuable minutes as the Club’s Elite Development Team drew 1-1 away at Burnley.

Joel Coleman, Herbert Bockhorn, Jon Gorenc Stankovic, Matty Daly and Collin Quaner were all part of Jon Worthington’s starting line-up and received valuable game time against the Clarets.

Young striker Kit Elliott gave Town the lead, but Burnley responded well and equalised late in the second half.

There was an early chance for Town after some brilliant play gave Herbert Bockhorn a chance, but unfortunately his shot wasn’t close enough to have an impact and it went over the bar.

Soon after Burnley had their first chance of the game, but it wasn’t powerful enough to be a threat to Joel Coleman.

EDT Captain Scott High whipped in two dangerous free kicks in the first half, but both were met by fierce defending from the hosts. The central midfielder responded soon after with some great defending that prevented Burnley making a charge towards Coleman.

The Terriers continued to defender well, with one of the Club’s trialists putting in an excellent tackle to stop an attack.

Town had another chance towards the end of the first half following some great play from Quaner and Demeaco Duhaney, but the ball rolled out of play before it could have an impact.

Jon Worthington’s side had an equally strong start to the second half. Quaner had a fierce effort stopped by the ‘keeper before some great play from Matty Daly created a chance for High, which was also saved.

Town made four substitutions in four minutes, with two trialists coming on who made an instant impact.

Some superb play in the following few minutes found Town take the lead when Kit Elliott was able to easily find the back of the net.

Kit continued to cause problems, this time creating a chance for a Town trialist in the box, but his shot was too strong and fired over the bar.

The hosts responded well to being behind and scored an equaliser, tricking Coleman into going right and shooting the ball to his left.

Two of Town’s trialists put in some strong teamwork to create another chance, but it hit the bar.

Burnley thought they had a late winner when the ball flew into the back of the net, however, it was ruled out for offside.
