Young Terriers draw in Munich

- Mark Hudson’s U19 side draws with Bayern Munich
- Young Terriers come from behind on two-occasions
- Micah Obiero & Scott High on target for Town

Huddersfield Town’s Under-19s showed real tenacity to come from behind on two occasions to earn a 2-2 draw against an age-equivalent Bayern Munich side.

Mark Hudson took his Young Terriers to face the German giants for a second time this year; the first meeting in March ending in a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Romoney Crichlow-Noble and Rekeil Pyke – you can watch the highlights from that game HERE.

Town’s team had a younger feel to it than the in the first encounter, with just four players – Mason O’Malley, Scott High, Romoney Crichlow-Noble & Olly Dyson - who started in the previous encounter starting for the Young Terriers.

The game began and saw very little in the way of action in the opening stages, as both sides look to create that first meaningful chance of the tie.

It would take until the 26th minute for the first chance to fall in the way of the host. A defensive mix-up from the Young Terriers saw the ball fall to a Bayern player in the box, who fired his effort onto the post.

Further chances for Bayern to take the lead would follow, but goalkeeper Gabriel Rosario made good saves on the two occasions to keep them out.

With half-time fast approaching, the first goal of the game would go in the way of Bayern as Town’s ‘keeper Rosario was beaten from a free-kick taken from the edge of the area.

The Young Terriers reacted and hit back almost instantly as George Danaher found space and saw his goal bound effort blocked on the line, before Micah Obiero followed in to level the scores just before the break.

The second half began, and Bayern would regain the lead just seven minutes in. A cross was delivered in from the right and met with a powerful header that beat Rosario for the host’s second of the afternoon.

Five changes was made by Town as they looked for a way back into the game. Dahomey Raymond, Harry Spratt, Tom Bamford, Harrison Davison-Hale and George Alfieri was all introduced in place of Mason O’Malley, Tom Bell, George Danaher, Gabriel Rosario & Aaron Rowe.

Town would draw level in the 82nd minute as Olly Dyson got in a cross from the left that found captain Scott High, who made a smart turn in the box before firing home from 10 yards. Another positive result for Mark Hudson’s side against tough opposition.

Town’s Starting Line-Up (4-2-3-1):
Gabriel Rosario; Mason O’Malley, Sam Gibson, Romoney Crichlow-Noble, Ben Jackson; Scott High (c), Tom Bell; Olly Dyson, Aaron Rowe, Micah Obiero; George Danaher

Rolling Subs:
