Young Terriers defeated

- Under-23s defeated by Colchester United
- A first-half strike from McKeown sinks the young Town side
- Highlights to follow on HTTV this week

Huddersfield Town Under-23s were in action on Monday afternoon as they welcomed Professional Development League Southern side, Colchester United to PPG Canalside.

The game was to kick-off at 2pm as Frankie Bunn made two changes to the side that drew 1-1 against Bristol City at Ashton Gate last Monday. Ben Jackson and Isaac Marriott were brought into the starting eleven in place of Jordan Thomas and Jack Boyle.

Mark Hudson took his position alongside Frankie Bunn in the dugout for today’s game as one of the coaches for the ‘Young Terriers’.

Town found themselves on top in the opening exchanges, as a flurry of one-on-one chances for Isaac Marriott, Dom Tear & Olly Dyson were all hit straight at the goalkeeper.

The U’s took the lead in the 42nd minute as striker Eoin McKeown saw his powerful low drive from close range find its way in from a tight angle, beating ‘keeper Ryan Schofield down to his left.

The ‘Young Terriers’ went into the break trailing and were looking for a way back into the game.

A flurry of substitutions followed in the 55th and 60th minute's as Denilson Carvalho, Matty Daly & Isaac Marriott came on in place of Luca Colville, Dom Tear & George Danaher.

The equaliser wasn’t to come as Town were condemned to defeat. Next up for the U23s is a home fixture to Crewe Alexandra next Monday.
