19 November 2017

Frankie Bunn’s side hosts Barnsley in PDL

- Why not enjoy lunch beforehand at PPG Canalside?

Huddersfield Town’s Under-23 side will host Barnsley at PPG Canalside on Monday afternoon in the latest Professional Development League game of the season.

Senior Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn’s young Terriers will take on the South Yorkshire side on the front pitch at Town’s training ground, with admission priced at just £1. Every supporter will also receive a team-sheet upon entry.

If you’re coming down to the game, why not come to PPG Canalside earlier for a spot of lunch? The kitchen serves between noon and 2pm on week days and offers great food at great prices; click HERE for the menu.

The Development Squad comes into the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat at league-leading Sheffield Wednesday on Monday; watch highlights of the game below for free courtesy of #HTTV.

That result kept Town’s young side at the bottom of the PDL North table with nine points from 12 games, although a win on Monday afternoon would see the Terriers climb up the ladder.

Led by former Scunthorpe United and Macclesfield Town midfielder Paul Harsley, Barnsley sit fifth with 18 points from 13 games. They come into the game following a 1-0 defeat at Burnley in their last outing on Thursday.

If you cannot make the game, you can still see team news and live text updates of the game via Town’s official Academy Twitter account, @htafcacademy.

REPORT: HTAFC U23S 4-1 BARNSLEY

20 November 2017

Lolley guides Town to 4-1 win

- Town defeat Barnsley 4-1 at PPG Canalside
- Joe Lolley (x3) and Regan Booty on target for Town
- Highlights on HTTV this week

A second half hat-trick from Joe Lolley and a goal from Regan Booty gave Huddersfield Town’s U23’s a 4-1 win over Barnsley in the Professional Development League.

There were four changes to the Under-23s side that were defeated at Sheffield Wednesday last week with Ryan Schofield and Danny Kane coming back into the side having missed last week’s game on international duty for their respective nations. First Team players Abdelhamid Sabiri and Collin Quaner were the other two players coming into the side with Tadhg Ryan, Dylan Cogill, Cedwyn Scott and Jack Boyle all dropping out.

The game began and Town’s Under-23 captain Regan Booty was to give Town the lead inside seven minutes. The midfielder’s initial corner on the right came back out to him and his second delivery defied everyone, including the Barnsley ‘keeper, finding the top corner to give Town the early lead.

Barnsley nearly got back into the game soon after in the form of former St Mirren man Stevie Mallan, the midfielder showed good feet to skip between two Town defenders and from the edge of the area curled his shot narrowly wide of the post.

Joe Lolley was causing Barnsley some real issues on the left as he was found in space by Regan Booty, charging down on goal he cut the ball back to Abdelhamid Sabiri who in turn dragged his shot narrowly wide of the mark.

The second-half began, and a flurry of goals were to follow. Joe Lolley powered in Town’s second with his left foot from range four minutes into the second half before Barnsley grabbed a consolation less than a minute later through dangerman Stevie Mallan. The midfielder found himself in space on the edge of the box and used it to full effect powering the ball past Ryan Schofield in the Town goal.

Lolley grabbed his second around four minutes later latching onto an initial through ball and one-on-one the winger took it around the keeper and rolled the ball home for his second and Town’s third of the afternoon.

His hat-trick followed several minutes later in almost similar fashion, a neat touch took it around the defender and sent him through one-on-on. The winger made no mistake and under pressure, coolly rolled the ball under the ‘keeper to complete his hat-trick.

Town’s Starting Line-Up (4-2-3-1):
Ryan Schofield; Romoney Crichlow-Noble, Rarmani Edmonds-Green, Danny Kane, Jordan Thomas (Mason O’Malley, 85’); Lewis O’Brien, Regan Booty (c); Collin Quaner, Kasey Palmer (Olly Dyson, 65’), Joe Lolley; Abdelhamid Sabiri

Unused Subs:
Tadhg Ryan, Cedwyn Scott, Denilson Carvalho
