REPORT: BIRMINGHAM CITY 2-1 HTAFC U23S

24 November 2017

Town defeated at Birmingham

- Town play their second PDL fixture of the week
- Frankie Bunn’s side travelled to Birmingham on Friday afternoon
- Danny Kane on target from Town

Huddersfield Town Under-23s were in action for the second time in a week as they travelled to the Midlands to face Birmingham City for the next instalment of their Professional Development League campaign. Despite taking the lead through Danny Kane, Frankie Bunn’s side were defeated by two goals to one.

The last outing for the Under-23s saw them romp to a 4-1 victory over Barnsley on Monday, and there were five changes to that side as Isaac Marriot, Olly Dyson, Denilson Carvalho, Dom Tear and Mason O’Malley came into the side in place of Romoney Crichlow-Noble, Collin Quaner, Abdelhamid Sabiri, Kasey Palmer and Joe Lolley.

It would be in the second-half where the game would spring into life as Town took the lead in the 50th minute. The move began with a short corner that found its way to Regan Booty who in turn found Danny Kane who headed Town into a second-half lead.

The Blues got back into the game in the 67th minute as Steve Seddon pulled the sides level following a set piece before Charlie Lakin grabbed the eventual match winner in the closing stages of the game to secure the three points for the host.

Next up for the Under-23s is a home fixture against Sheffield United on Monday 4 December at PPG Canalside.

Town’s Starting Line-Up (4-2-3-1):
Ryan Schofield; Mason O’Malley, Rarmani Edmonds-Green, Danny Kane, Jordan Thomas; Regan Booty, Isaac Marriott; Lewis O’Brien, Dom Tear (Scott High, 78’), Denilson Carvalho (Cedwyn Scott, 45’); Olly Dyson (Micah Obiero, 78’)
