UNDER-19s BACK IN HOME ACTION ON SATURDAY

16 September 2022

Young Terriers host Hartlepool United at 11.30am

- Huddersfield Town Under-19s play again on Saturday
- George Danaher’s side host Hartlepool United in EFL Youth Alliance
- 11.30am kick-off at Millers Oils High Performance Complex

The Huddersfield Town Under-19 side is back in action on Saturday 17 October, hosting Hartlepool United in the EFL Youth Alliance League at 11.30am.

If you want to double-up ahead of the First Team’s Sky Bet Championship game against Cardiff City at 3pm, you’re welcome to come down and watch the Young Terriers at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex for free!

George Danaher’s side will be without centre back Freddie Fletcher and midfielder Tom Iorpenda for the fixture, as both will serve suspensions following red cards in the midweek West Yorkshire derby against Bradford City.

Town played fairly well during the first half, but were made to pay for slack defending from two set pieces that gave the Bantams a half time lead. Things got worse moments before the interval when centre back Fletcher was shown a straight red for a two-footed challenge on halfway, with Iorpenda’s second yellow coming five minutes from time after the visitors stretched their lead to four.

As always, we’ll have a full breakdown of the game on htafc.com early next week.

18 September 2022

Young Terriers win in their EFL Youth Alliance game against Hartlepool United

- Town U19 side are victorious against Hartlepool United
- Three goals scored in the second half
- Four different names on the scoresheet on Saturday

Huddersfield Town Under-19s score four past Hartlepool United at Millers Oils High Performance Complex on Saturday 17 September.

Town’s U19s were the better of the two sides in the EFL Youth Alliance game on Saturday as they came away with four goals and a clean sheet against Hartlepool United.

Hakeem Sandah put the Young Terriers ahead in the 14th minute and scored the only goal of the first half after Town held possession and pushed forwards, Sandah’s goal came from fast paced play which made it impossible to defend.

Hartlepool’s youngsters didn’t sit back after this goal, they tried to equalise almost immediately as they ran through the middle of Town’s defence, but Michael Acquah got a touch on his fingertips to tip it over the bar and out for a corner.

Town went into half-time with the advantage and should have doubled their lead with their second attempt on target; this came in the 39th minute through a direct free kick from Dylan Helliwell that just skimmed the crossbar and went out for a goal kick.

The visitors had the chance to equalise at the start of the second half when they made their way past the Town defenders, but their shot was slightly high and went over the crossbar.

This sparked the Young Terriers to score their second goal as half-time substitute Aaron Ojungu doubled the lead and found the bottom left corner of the net after being played on by Michael Parker who drove the ball up the pitch.

Daniel Vost made it three for the Town Under-19s after a cross was played into the box from Ajay Weston, allowing Vost to strike the ball from the edge of the box.

The Young Pools were determined to get one back and continued to push as they shot from range in the final minutes, however, Acquah was unbeaten as he dove to palm the ball out for a corner.

Hazeem Bakre secured the win in the final minute of play with the fourth goal for the Young Terriers, after narrowly missing the net multiple times in the second half.
