22 July 2022

Young Terriers continue pre-season on Saturday 23 July 22

- Goalkeeper Sam Taylor ready for the challenge
- Fans can attend the 11am kick-off

Goalkeeper Sam Taylor is prepared to face Preston North End on Saturday 23 July 2022 as Huddersfield Town’s Under-19s continue preparations for the 2022/23 season.

The game takes place at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex; 11am kick-off.

17-year-old Sam Taylor explains that although pre-season is tough, it’s key to getting the team working together early on.

“It’s always tough. It’s the hardest part of the year for many players.

“We’ve been working really hard in the goalkeeping department, but the team as a whole has been as well - everyone is grafting.

“The team is bonding really well, and I think we’re all coming together nicely as a group.”

Saturday’s game against Preston North End will prove to be an exciting challenge for Town’s youngsters, one that Taylor thinks they will do well in.

“Preston are going to be up for it, they always are, we played them a few times last season.

“We expect a tough game, they will be physical and they will be at us straight away.

“We have just got to play our football and I think we’ll do well!”

Looking ahead to the 2022/23 season, the 17-year-old has set himself some goals he hopes to achieve.

“I hope to be in and around the B Team, training with them as much as possible.

“I also just want to play as many games as I can like last season. I think that helped my development a lot and I just want to keep doing that because I think that will help me improve a lot as a footballer.

“I think we can do really well in the FA Youth Cup as well, so I am looking forward to that!”

The game against Walsall will take place at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex from 11am, and fans are able to attend for FREE!

Fans are welcome to come to the training ground to support the Young Terriers from 10.30am. The game will be played on one of the pitches over the canal, but supporters are asked to report to the Millers Oils High Performance Complex as normal to gain entry to the match.
