Huddersfield Town Under 19s resume their EFL Youth Alliance League campaign as they host Mansfield on Saturday.

The Young Terriers will play Mansfield in an 11am kick-off on Saturday 4 February at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex (509 Leeds Road, Huddersfield, HD2 1YJ).

The youngsters come into the game off the back of a 2-2 draw with Farsley Celtic in a friendly last time out and will be looking to build on that and get their first win of the calendar year.

Mansfield Town come into the game in good form, winning four out of their last four games.

The Stags will be out for revenge as the Young Terriers defeated them 2-1 when the two sides previously met back in November.

Town fans will be able to attend this game free of charge before heading off to the John Smith's Stadium and watching the first team play QPR at 3pm on Saturday 4 February.

Please be aware that parking at Millers Oils High Performance Complex is limited, so arrive in plenty of time or there might be a chance you have to park elsewhere.

U19s: SANDAH AND OKUWA SCORE IN MANSFIELD DRAW

5 February 2023

Huddersfield Town U19s draw 3-3 against Mansfield Town at home

- Huddersfield Town U19s 3-3 Mansfield Town
- Temi Okuwa and Hakeem Sandah scored to equalise
- Sandah scored the third goal to take the lead

Huddersfield Town’s U19s played out a 3-3 draw against Mansfield Town in the EFL Youth Alliance League at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex.

Following their draw against Farsley Celtic last week, our Under-19s came out on the morning of Saturday 4 February full of energy and ready to kick on in the EFL Youth Alliance League.

Our young ‘keeper, Francis Hurl, was a standout player throughout the entire game as he denied many chances from the Mansfield side, but especially in the first 10 minutes as he reacted quickly on two separate occasions to deny from taking the lead.

Despite Mansfield opening the scoreline in the 15th minute through Finn Flanagan’s shot from outside the box, which was fired into the bottom left corner, our Young Terriers came back eight minutes later with a goal from Hakeem Sandah from outside the box into the bottom corner.

However, with both teams showing unwavering effort, the Stags once again took the lead two minutes later from a free kick in a dangerous area. Jakub Kruszynski delivered the set piece into the box in the perfect place for their captain Taylor Anderson to run onto and deliver it home.

Just seconds before the half-time whistle Temi Okuwa scored our second and made it level going into he second half; the initial shot from Tyree Sanusi was blocked, but Okuwa fired home the rebound from range.

The second half opened up immediately as Sandah got his brace in the 47th minute. The goal came from a great through ball from Dylan Helliwell, which meant Sandah could run onto the ball at the side of the box, he shot from the narrow angle and with the power on the ball, it couldn’t be stopped by the Mansfield ‘keeper.

Our Youngsters didn’t sit back after taking the lead, they worked hard both in attack and defence to keep hold of their advantage.

Sam Beedie, one of our trialists today, sent a great cross into the box and found the feet of Okuwa on the edge of the box in the 75th minute, his shot went high and over the bar.

Mansfield then scored in the 82nd minute to secure the point for both sides as the ball hit the bottom corner of the net.
