Huddersfield Town under 19s are back in action on Saturday as they host Hartlepool United in the EFL Youth Alliance League.

The Young Terriers will play Hartlepool United on Saturday 1 April in an 11am kick-off, with the game taking place at the Millers Oil High Performance Complex (509 Leeds Road, Huddersfield, HD2 1YJ).

The youngsters come into the game on the back of a defeat to Indonesian side Garuda Select and will be looking to bounce back and start April with a win ahead of the final part of the season.

U19s: BAKRE SCORES IN WIN OVER HARTLEPOOL

2 April 2023

Victory in latest EFL Youth Alliance League fixture for Huddersfield Town U19s

- Huddersfield Town’s U19s 1-0 Hartlepool United
- Hazeem Bakre scores winner
- Competitive, end-to-end game ends in victory for Young Terriers#

Our Huddersfield Town Under 19 side were victorious with a 1-0 win in their EFL Youth Alliance League fixture against Hartlepool United on Saturday morning at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex.

In a remarkably even, but competitive, game Michael Tonge and Oran Thompson’s side could have scored more goals against their opponents, Hartlepool United, at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex.

In the end, a second half goal from Hazeem Bakre was enough to secure the win and all three EFL Youth Alliance League points.

Quick of the mark, our youngsters had their first chance to score within the first minute due to Cian Philpott, who was crossed the ball by Freddie Fletcher and he shot from just outside the box, but the shot was saved by the Hartlepool ‘keeper.

Fope Deru ran onto a long ball that had been sent down the left side, but his cross had too much force behind it and it went high across the face of goal and out for a goal kick.

Our Young Terriers were in with another great chance after Omari Mrisho crossed the ball to the near post for Bakre to slot into the back of the net, but this opportunity went just wide of the post and out behind the goal.

Desperate to find the back of the net, Bakre received the ball inside our attacking half and carried the ball towards the box before he shot, but this chance went wide.

With great skill, Deru got the ball round his man and headed towards the area. Bakre received the ball in the box and shot, but this went wide.

Deru, again, almost put the Terriers in front as he shot from a narrow angle outside the box, but this is saved by the diving Pool ‘keeper, which meant our youngsters went into the break all square.

Bakre scored Town’s goal in the 54th minute after Mrisho sent a nice cross into the box and out striker connected with it and tucked it into the back of the net.

Temi Okuwa fancied his chances just a few minutes later from range and shot from outside the box, but the low show was anticipated and saved by the ‘keeper.

Deru did incredibly well to get through the Hartlepool defence and then back-heeled the ball to Okuwa inside the box, the ‘keeper reacted well to Okuwa’s shot from close range.

Town had a last minute chance to double their lead as Deru regained possession and ran into the box before he squared the ball to Farris Mohammed, but this ball went wide.
