Huddersfield Town Under-17s’ Brahima Diarra is pleased with his improved shooting since becoming a Young Terrier!

Brahima doubled his season’s tally to four when he scored a brace against Lincoln City in midweek.

The youngster joined Huddersfield Town’s Under-17 set-up in July 2019, moving from his hometown in France.

The midfielder was one of three players to move countries, and was quick to admit that Gulutte Zunda and Loick Ayina being in similar situations helped him settle in.

“It’s helped a lot.

“If we’re sad we can talk together because we know what each other is going through.

“I call Loick and Gully a lot to talk to them; we’re very good friends, we’re always together.”

The 16-year-old has had to adapt to a new playing style as part of the Young Terriers, something which coaches Jon Worthington and George Danaher have helped him with.

“They help us a lot after the game, they tell us what we did well and what we can do better which is helping me improve.

“My shooting before I came here wasn’t very good, but Worthy and George have helped me in practice to be better.

“I work on my shooting every morning by doing drills. We practice how to move my body to get better shots on target.

“I’ve also learnt to split my play half and half, so to play the ball forwards as well as backwards when I receive the ball.”

Brahima’s hard work on shooting has paid off, as he scored a brace when the Under-17s took on Lincoln on Tuesday 11 February 2020.

“I was very happy to score two, I really enjoyed it!

“I want to keep scoring as many goals as possible, in my next game I want a hattrick!”

Brahima and his teammates are back in action tomorrow (Saturday 15 February) when they travel to take on Mansfield Town at the RH Academy, Mansfield (NG19 7RT).

Kick-off is 11.30am and Huddersfield Town supporters are welcome to attend.
